Miami, Florida – For the second weekend in a row the Hurricanes swept their opponents thanks in part to the grand slam from Bobby Marsh. It was Marsh’s first home run as a Cane. The Penn State transfer’s bat has cooled some since going 4-for-4 on opening night versus Niagara, however, he made his first at-bat count as part of an 8-0 victory. He leads the team with 15 RBIs. The dinger was UM’s second grand slam of the weekend. Jake Ogden delivered his own during game one of Saturday’s doubleheader. Ogden was also the only player to have a multi-hit game Sunday afternoon going 3-for-3 including three runs, two RBIs, and a stolen base.
Bobby Marsh leads the team with 15 RBIs. He was already ahead heading the weekend with 7. Hitting .333 it's safe to say he's swinging a very impactful bat early on.#GoCanes pic.twitter.com/aERuBfNHqu

The effort at the plate was mirrored on the mound as Brian Walters tossed six shutout innings striking out nine issuing a singular walk. Coach J.D. Arteaga erred on the side of caution pulling Walters for the seventh in favor of Carson Fischer. Nick Shenefelt broke up the no-hitter but the Miami Hurricanes completed the four-game sweep over the Princeton Tigers improving to 7-1. Ogden opened up the scoring in the first inning with a bases-loaded single gifting the Canes an early 1-0 lead. Three batters later Marsh went yard with the two-out, bases-load rip to left field making it 5-0 Hurricanes. Miami added to its lead in the third with Ogden scoring on a throwing error to first.
Up 6-0 at the bottom of the seventh, the Hurricanes padded their lead thanks to an Ogden RBI single plating teammate Daniel Cuvet. Dorian Gonzalez Jr., kept up the productivity driving Ogden home to make it 8-0. The Canes host FGCU Wednesday night before traveling to Gainesville to play the currently tenth-ranked Florida Gators.

Now the real part of the schedule begins. UM did what was expected outscoring their opponent 36-6 over the weekend showing consistency on all sides of the ball. The starting pitchers kept up the dominance getting backup from the guys behind them. On top of Nick Robert, Griffin Hugus, and Walters shoving around the opposing hitting, we saw the successful debut of Hawaii transfer Alex Giroux. The bullpen wasn’t bad either.
Daniel Cuvet and Max Galvin climbed out of their early season slumps going 5-for-14 and 7-for-16 respectively during the four-game slate. Furthermore, Cuvet knocked in three while Galvin plated five. I initially predicted two losses for the Canes this week but they proved me wrong with the great performance. The lineup shows the potential to tire out many pitchers and the pitching is solid thus far. I look forward to FGCU and Florida next week.

Gus Bus Award
I have lots of respect for Walters but this one goes to Marsh. The former Nittany Lion has been an impact addition to the team and early analysis shows he is a win from the transfer portal.
You’re Killing Me Smalls
Michael Torres went hitless and his average has dipped to .120, if this keeps up Torres will no longer be the leadoff man.
