NU Stadium- Inter Miami remain in search of their first win at NU Stadium, settling for a third consecutive home draw—this time a 1–1 result against the New England Revolution. Despite controlling much of the match, Inter Miami was forced to come from behind, with Germán Berterame scoring the equalizer—his third goal in the last four games.

Carles Gil had given New England the lead earlier, capitalizing on a defensive mistake by Maximiliano Falcón.

Berterame was in the right place at the right time, tapping in a rebound from a Luis Suárez strike to level the match.

Despite controlling much of the match and creating several clear scoring opportunities, Inter Miami had to settle for yet another draw at home.

Hoyos Satisfied With The Week

Guillermo Hoyos addressed Inter Miami’s third consecutive home draw, pointing to the team’s congested schedule as a key factor in the result against New England, a side that has struggled on the road. He noted that the Herons were playing their third match in less than a week and emphasized the squad’s effort across a demanding stretch against quality opposition.

I appreciate the effort all week from the players, great effort in three games in less than seven days.

The match against New England marked Inter Miami’s third game in a brutal stretch, with the Herons also missing several key players. Sergio Reguilón, Mateo Silvetti, and David Ayala were sidelined through injury, while Yannick Bright and Telasco Segovia were unavailable due to suspensions.

Despite those absences, Miami controlled much of the match and created multiple scoring opportunities, but was unable to beat Matt Turner more than once. The New England goalkeeper delivered a strong performance, helping secure the result for the visitors.

The Gunslinger Starts

Luis Suárez received the start against New England largely due to the injuries and suspensions facing the Herons. The veteran striker showed he still has quality, linking up effectively with Lionel Messi to create dangerous opportunities for Inter Miami.

Miami’s lone goal came from a powerful Luis Suárez strike that rebounded into the path of Germán Berterame, who finished into the New England net. The veteran forward showed he still has enough in the tank to be a difference-maker when called upon.

Luis Suárez’s role moving forward will depend on Guillermo Hoyos’ tactical preference. Does he return to Tadeo Allende and Mateo Silvetti on the wings, or stick with the trio of Germán Berterame, Suárez, and Lionel Messi up front? Both options offer quality, but Suárez may be most effective as an impact substitute, providing a spark off the bench late in matches for the Herons.

Young Herons

Inter Miami has often faced criticism from around the league for its tendency to sign high-profile veteran players. The club is frequently perceived as one that lacks a strong academy system or does not fully value its young talent. However, that narrative doesn’t hold up under closer examination of the current squad and how youth players are being utilized this season.

Saturday’s match against New England featured academy products Noah Allen and David Ruiz in the starting XI, with several more on the bench. Ian Fray, Alexander Shaw, Daniel Pinter, Santiago Morales, Preston Plambeck, Daniel Sumalla, and Cesar Abadia were also included in the matchday roster—all academy-developed players.

In total, nine academy products were part of Inter Miami’s first-team squad for the match, a number few MLS clubs can match. It’s a clear sign that, alongside its star power, the club is building a foundation for the future with its young talent.
