Geodis Park- Nashville SC made Inter Miami CF face the music and sing the blues with a 2-1 win over the Herons. Sam Surridge and Josh Bauer scored for the Coyotes, while Lionel Messi pulled one back for Miami.

Match Action
Nashville began the match showing greater intensity and aggression at home against Miami. The Coyotes were rewarded for their efforts with an early penalty kick, as Ríos Novo fouled Sam Surridge inside the box. Ríos Novo hesitated coming off his line and clipped Surridge on the lower part of his right leg. Surridge buried the penalty, putting Nashville ahead 1-0 nine minutes into the match.

Messi’s goal was too little, too late, as Inter Miami sang the blues in Nashville and now hopes to change the tune back home in Miami.
Postgame
The “Player of the Match” was Josh Bauer, who scored the game-winning goal in only his fourth start of the season for Nashville. Bauer got the nod in place of the injured Daniel Lovitz and did not disappoint—on the pitch or off it. He delivered the quote of the night when describing how the victory was about more than just tactics or on-field adjustments.
You can talk a lot about tactics and on-the-field stuff, but I think this game wasn’t so much about that. This game was between the ears and in your hearts, and you could see that from everyone tonight. A little cold and rainy—perfect for us just to be dogs out there.
Nashville played its heart out at home Saturday night, and while they weren’t the biggest dog in the fight, they were the fiercest.
Final Thoughts
Inter Miami fell in Nashville, and if they lose again at home to drop the series, it would be a monumental and disastrous collapse. The Herons were built to win trophies now, yet they have fallen short of expectations. If that nightmare scenario were to occur, the entire organization—players, coaches, administrators, and owners alike—would face intense scrutiny.
Rodrigo De Paul, Luis Suárez, and Sergio Busquets are all under the microscope after their performances against Nashville. Much more was expected from each of them—especially De Paul, who was brought in to take the Herons over the top. Younger than all the Barcelona legends, he is expected to stand out, but he has yet to do so. If Miami does not win the MLS Cup, the organization may need to reconsider whether De Paul is worth the significant investment required to acquire him.
Lionel Messi is perhaps the greatest fútbol player of all time, but if Inter Miami is to get past Nashville next Saturday night, he will need help from his teammates—especially the Barcelona legends and Rodrigo De Paul. Even “Magical Messi” needs support; he can’t do it alone.
