The FIU Panthers are on a six-game winning streak as they steamrolled Middle Tennessee in seven sets. This series was a must-win for the Panthers as they eye the two seed, but arguably most importantly, staying undefeated while in conference play at the Ocean Bank Convocation Center.
This series was vital as they are one game behind the two-way tie for first place in Conference USA. This marks the first time the Panthers have achieved an undefeated home record since the 2018 season.
MSTU entered this series with a 2-10 conference record, as well as a winless conference series record. They came into town looking to spoil the senior weekend festivities.

However, committing a combined 40 errors in the two-game series will leave a sour taste in the mouth of anyone. The Panthers, as a team, tallied a total of 101 kills this weekend while only committing 29 errors. These numbers alone allowed FIU to propel itself ahead of the Blue Raiders and never look back.
Looking Ahead…
FIU is in a prime position to earn a coveted CUSA tourney seed. With six seeds up for grabs, the Panthers finish the regular season on the road in El Paso against the UTEP Miners.
If the Panthers can knock off the Miners, the door will be open for them to secure the two seed heading into the CUSA tournament. This will be the most challenging away series that the Panthers have faced in conference play. The Miners, similar to the Panthers, are undefeated at home against CUSA opponents.
The Panthers are 3-10 all-time against the Miners. This would be a nice parting gift, as the Miners have announced they are leaving Conference USA to join the Mountain West next season across all athletic sports.
My Predictions:
I think the Miners will be ready and will play a close game with the Panthers, ultimately splitting the series, 1-1.
Game 1:
FIU- 3
UTEP- 2
Game 2:
FIU- 1
UTEP- 3
SERIES TIE 1-1
