If you are looking for a plan on how to build a defensive powerhouse, look no further. The addition of defender Grace Morris has been the first of many steps taken by FIU Women’s Soccer.
A graduate from Llandysul, Wales, she began her career at Cumberland University as a four-year starter and key player on their backline. Morris brings her defensive abilities to boost the Panthers’ defense and compete for another Conference USA title.
During her time at CU, Morris was a standout defender on the field. She ended her tenure there with over 75 games played, 15 goals, and 20 assists. In her senior season, she played in every game, logging over 1,700 minutes on the field. She helped anchor the Phoenix’s defense every season by consistently starting on the field, cementing her defensive importance.
Morris’s defense-oriented resume speaks for itself, as she was named NAIA All-American Second Team and earned Mid-South Conference Defensive Player of the Year three times. In addition, she earned conference defensive player of the week 5 times. Her consistent excellence on the field earned her recognition as one of the top defenders in the nation.

As the 2025 season approaches, all eyes will be on Grace Morris as she integrates into FIU’s defensive lineup. She will be a vital presence in the backline, helping provide stability for the team. With the Panthers’ sights set on another successful season, Morris’s addition could be instrumental to their continued dominance in CUSA.
