Lynchburg, VA – The past few weeks haven’t been the best for the FIU Panthers. They were already on a losing streak in past Conference USA games by double digits before facing the Liberty Flames.
It all came down to the poor play on offense. FIU only shot for 37% from the floor while only shooting an abysmal 8% from the 3-point line. That’s what factored in the 58-45 loss for FIU against Liberty, extending their losing streak to four.
Brewer Continues To Shine
Junior guard Jayden Brewer, put up his second double-double of the season, scoring 10 points and grabbing 10 boards. This marked the eighth consecutive game where he scored in double figures.

Final Takeaways
The Panthers were able to tie the game up at 19 in the 1st half but never got close to a lead after allowing an 11-0 run.
They were averaging 70.8 points per game before the matchup and Liberty was able to hold them accountable thanks to their defense.
FIU could do a better job at drawing fouls. They only had five free throw attempts, making four of them.
The Panthers were able to finish the game with more steals and less turnovers but could have taken advantage of more trips to the free throw line.
All 10 teams in the Conference USA will be eligible for the tournament taking place from March 11th to the 15th in Huntsville, Alabama.
However, if the Panthers have any hopes of making it far, they will have to figure out their conference opponents in the regular season. They remain winless on the road against CUSA opponents in 2025.
The 8-19 (2-12) Panthers are set to return to the Ocean Bank Convocation Center on Thursday, February 27th against 16-12 (8-7) Kennesaw State. Tip-off is at 7:00 PM.
