Chinatsu Kaio Earns CUSA Offensive Player of the Week Honors

For the first time in her career, Chinatsu Kaio has earned Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week honors. Her career with the Panthers is off to a hot start. She has a career-high of two goals in her first three matches against North Florida and Florida Atlantic.

Kaio is the first player from FIU Women’s Soccer to win these honors since Noemi Paquin earned them for five consecutive weeks in 2024.

Kaio’s Success So Far

Kaio is in her senior season at FIU and has played a role in her team’s success. The midfielder is currently majoring in interdisciplinary studies.

As a junior, she helped lead the Panthers on their runs as the 2024 CUSA Regular Season and Tournament Champions. Kaio made seven starts in 19 games, logging a total of 1,009 minutes. In a game against Jacksonville State, she played a season-high of 84 minutes.

Chinatsu Kaio recorded an assist during the regular season and also had a helper in the NCAA Tournament against Auburn.

In 2023, Kaio started in two of her 15 appearances, totaling 475 minutes of playing time on the pitch. She scored a goal and dished out three assists in her sophomore season. Of her 13 shots, five were on goal.

In her freshman season, Chinatsu Kaio started in all 15 games. She had one assist and 11 shots in 1,104 total minutes. She made her debut with the club on August 18, 2022, against Louisiana, where she played in 78 minutes. Her first career assist came on August 25, 2022, against Stetson.

Kaio attended Sendai Shiratori High School and is originally from Aizuwakamatsu, Japan.
