The Panthers WSOC team announced that Jaileah McPherson and Noa Ganthier will be their captains for the 2025 season. Expectations are high for FIU after finishing the 2024 season with a 13-5-2 record.

A historic season, which saw them winning the Conference USA Tournament, resulted in them losing their first NCAA Tournament game in 13 years. Still, expectations are high this season, and these two players will lead the charge.

Jaileah McPherson

McPherson joins the sophomore class at FIU as a philosophy major. Last year, the defender played at Memphis, recording 21 minutes of game time in one match. Before her collegiate career, McPherson played at National Development Center Ontario, where she was a 2024 League 1 Ontario Women’s Premier champion.

The team was also a League 1 finalist in 2023, placing second. The Burlington native played high school soccer at Bill Crothers Secondary School.

Jaileah McPherson has previous experience as a captain. On the international stage, she was captain of the Under-20 Jamaica National Team. She was also a Senior Jamaican National Team call-up.

Noa Ganthier

Ganthier joins FIU as a redshirt senior as a business finance major. The Boca Raton native spent the past two seasons playing for FAU. Last season, she started in 15 games while totaling 850 minutes. In 2023, Ganthier scored a goal. The midfielder previously played for Lipscomb University in Nashville. In 2022, she recorded three shots, with two of them being on goal for a .667 SOG percentage. As a freshman, she made four starts in 17 games, logging 571 minutes on the field.

Ganthier also brings in international experience. She represented Haiti in the 2022 CONCACAF Women’s Championship Team and the 2023 FIFA World Cup.

This is not her first rodeo as captain. Noa Ganthier was the team captain for West Boca High School in 2021 and earned MVP honors with 28 goals and 31 assists. She was also an All-District selection and a District champion that season.
