MIAMI, FL โ The Miami HEAT announced today they acquire forward Simone Fontecchio from the Detroit Pistons in exchange for Duncan Robinson.
Fontecchio appeared in 75 games with the Pistons last season and averaged 5.9 points and 2.9 rebounds in 16.5 minutes of action while shooting 40.2 percent from the field and 83.3 percent from the foul line. He helped lead the Detroit reserves to 40.2 points per game, the second-most bench points in the Eastern Conference. He scored in double-figures 16 times, including a season-high 23 points at New Orleans on March 17. In the same game, he added seven rebounds and a steal while shooting 9-of-10 from the field and a perfect 5-of-5 from three-point range to become the first player in Pistons history to record each of those minimums in a game. He made multiple three-point field goals 21 times and shot at least 50 percent from downtown on 23 occasions.
Additionally, Fontecchio played professionally overseas starting at age 16 and appeared with the Italian National Team in the 2023 FIBA World Cup averaging a team-high 18.0 points, and also in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics averaging a team-best 19.3 points, leading the team to a quarterfinals appearance.

Robinson, who has spent all seven of his NBA seasons in Miami, appeared in 423 career games (283 starts) with the HEAT averaging 11.3 points, 2.6 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 26.0 minutes. He is the teamโs all-time leader in three-point field goals made and is one of only two undrafted HEAT players to score at least 4,000 points, joining only Udonis Haslem.
