MIAMI, FL – FIU Men’s Basketball has announced the signing of Kennedy Brown. Brown is a forward joining the Panthers in his final season of NCAA eligibility.
Brown’s Collegiate Career
Kennedy Brown spent the 2024-25 season playing for Roosevelt University in his hometown, Chicago, Illinois. The communication and media studies major played in 28 games while starting in 14 of them.
He scored 178 points while grabbing 146 rebounds. Brown blocked 13 shots, stole five passes, and dished out six assists. He had nine double-digit performances, including a career-high 19 points against Upper Iowa. In another game against the Peacocks, he grabbed a career-high 16 rebounds.
During the 2023-24 season, Brown played for Clayton State University in Morrow, Georgia. The 6’9, 225-pound big man appeared in 19 games off the bench, averaging 9.3 minutes a game. In total, he scored 68 points and grabbed 28 rebounds. He also blocked seven shots, stole three passes, and tallied five assists. Kennedy Brown had two games where he scored in double figures.
Kennedy Brown started in two of his 25 games while playing for the University of Nebraska Omaha in 2022-23. Overall, he scored 57 points and grabbed 56 rebounds, while averaging 9.5 minutes per game. Brown finished the season with 10 blocks, along with two steals and two assists.
Brown got his collegiate start at the JUCO level with Dawson Community College in Glendive, Montana. He made 22 starts in 28 games, averaging 19.4 minutes per contest. Kennedy Brown averaged 10 points and 6.3 rebounds a game. His 40 blocks not only led the Dawson Buccaneers but also the Mon-Dak Athletic Conference (MDAC). Brown had 14 double-digit scoring games and earned second-team All-Conference recognition. He helped his team to a 23-3 record and their first NJCAA Tournament appearance.
High School Prep
Kennedy Brown attended Bogan High School, which is a powerhouse in the Chicago Public Schools (CPS) system. He was coached by Arthur Goodwin, and in his junior year, Brown led the Bogan Bengals to a 30-4 record and a Class 3A State runner-up finish. Brown also played club basketball for Teamrose/RWA and was coached by Nate Johnson.
