Albert “Al” Lorenzo Inducted to FIU Athletics Hall of Fame

Albert Lorenzo earned the FIU Athletics Torch Award in 2013 for his stewardship as a donor. He has also served as a mentor to FIU’s Panther Club as one of its top fundraisers. Lorenzo has offered guidance and support to the Athletics Department and has been involved with FIU in the University domain. He currently serves as a Board Member with FIU’s Foundation, a position he’s held since 2013. Lorenzo is also a member of both the FIU Alumni Association and the President’s Council.

Biography

Al Lorenzo was born in Havana and arrived in the United States at the age of 10. He played on the Hialeah Senior High School (1970 graduate) state championship baseball team and then became a walk-on for the FIU Panthers. The first-generation college graduate earned his business administration degree in 1974 and went on to have a thriving career in banking before entering politics, where he has counseled government leaders at all levels.
