Miami, Florida – A new week brings changes to the Lemon City Live Heisman Watchlist Power Rankings with a new face cracking the list and making his case. The previous edition saw a fairly static grouping, partially due to players being on a bye week but also because no one put up a momentum-changing performance except for Cam Ward. Out of all those trying to crack the rankings either for the first time or via triumphant return one individual stood out the most. And this two-way athlete has been lurking on the edges for a few weeks now.
With more than half the season in the books, some Heisman hopefuls are no longer in the running. Others remain potent candidates who are one great game away from shaking things up. A certain Clemson QB fits this description among others. These players represent four conferences and four positions if you want to be technical. Let’s get to it!
Ashton Jeanty

Previous Ranking: 2
Let me tell you, when people say Ashton Jeanty had a bad game after producing 128 yards and a touchdown it speaks volumes to the talent the young man possesses. Jeanty has hit the centennial mark in every game this season sitting on 1,376 yards and 18 touchdowns. The Boise State running back will face San Diego State next and all signs point to another successful 100+ yard performance with at least a TD in the mix.
Cam Ward
What can’t he do!

Previous Ranking: 1
It was not his game to shine. However, Cam Ward did help pull off a smooth trick play over in-state rival Florida State as part of a 36-14 victory that eliminated the Seminoles from the bowl game conversation. Ward threw for 208 yards without a touchdown or interception taking a somewhat backseat to the running game. He’ll have more opportunities down the road. Miami’s signal caller has recorded 2,746 yards, 24 TDs, and five interceptions for 2024. His next opponent will be Duke at home for a high-noon contest.

Previous Ranking: 4
The Oregon Duck had himself a day against the Fighting Illini completing 18 of 26 passes for 291 yards complemented by three touchdowns and a fourth on the ground. The 38-9 win is his second victory over a ranked opponent helping the quack attack protect the top spot. Gabriel now has 2,371 yards, 18 TDs, and five picks for 2024. His next test is a road trip against Michigan facing a team that could prove challenging.
Shedeur Sanders
Shedeur Sanders might be the most SELFLESS player in all of college football.
"I just want Travis to win. He is the best player in college football hands down, and I'm just excited for him to win it. And that will make my day."

Previous Ranking: 3
Coach Prime’s son continues his quest for greatness despite slipping to the fourth spot. Shedeur Sanders didn’t have a bad performance. He passed for 323 yards and two touchdowns with a third on the ground. This was against unranked Cincinnati compared to Gabriel who soared against No. 20 Illinois. Sanders has 2,591 yards, 21 TDs, and six interceptions for ’24. He will be on a break this weekend facing Texas Tech next week. Speaking of, Sanders’ teammate is finally joining him.

Previous Ranking: NR
It was only a matter of time before the two-way sensation was going to appear. Playing as a wide receiver and cornerback, Travis Hunter is a former five-star recruit from Suwanee, Georgia. Hunter has 60 receptions for 757 yards including eight touchdowns. Defensively, he’s tallied up 20 tackles, 13 of those solo, seven pass breakups, a pair of interceptions, and a forced fumble. His skillset truly makes him unique and a valuable draft prospect. It took a while but he’s finally here.
