Miami, Florida – Isan Díaz hit his first career grand slam as the Miami Marlins have now won four in a row, defeating the Milwaukee Brewers 6-1 Friday night. Trevor Rogers collected his fourth win of the season going five deep, fanning six. The offense, meanwhile, kept up the production with the top five of the order contributing all but one of the 10 hits.
It was a positive start to the Mother’s Day weekend series.

Rogers had a very strong 1,2,3 first inning, fanning the first two batters to set the tone. In the home half, Miguel Rojas base hit to get things started. He eventually made his way over to third on a passed ball. Adam Duvall drove him in hitting a sharp RBI single past Brewers shortstop Luis Urías that deflected off his glove. He would later rob Urías of a hit with a tremendous diving catch in the sixth.
Rogers had a bit of a close call in the third when Tyrone Taylor nearly hit a home run with two on that went just left of the foul pole. Jumping on the second chance he smoked one past Taylor to get out of the inning. The southpaw pitched around a double and a walk. That same frame, El Capitan got on base again drawing a walk. He wheeled it all the way to third when Garrett Cooper hit a seeing-eye single up the middle, beating out the throw. After Duvall walked, Díaz widened Miami’s lead with the grand slam to make it 5-0 Marlins.

Milwaukee got a run back in the fourth inning. Pablo Reyes singled on a line drive to left scoring Urías. He previously reached base as Cooper was unable to glove the pop fly, turning it into a two-bagger. The Fighting Fish immediately responded with back-to-back doubles from Rojas and Jesús Aguilar to make it 6-1. Miami seemingly scored another run in the eighth when Díaz singled, driving in Duvall. Initially, it looked like he avoided the tag at home plate but upon further review, the glove nicked his ankle area.
Regardless, the bullpen consisting of Zach Pop, Richard Bleier, and Adam Cimber took care of business. The Marlins improved to 15-16 looking to keep the wins coming.

The last Marlin to hit a grand slam was Jorge Alfaro on September 23rd, 2019 at the New York Mets. Furthermore, the last Marlins grand slam at the Big D (loanDepot park) was by former Vandy Boy Brian Anderson. It was done on July 31st, 2019 versus the Minnesota Twins. Díaz got a hold of Patrick Weigel’s 94 mph fastball and launched it into space. It traveled 401 feet.
