Chase Stadium- Lionel Messi, Tadeo Allende, and Jordi Alba each shone with standout performances on a night when a special tribute was given to Sergio Busquets for his brilliant career. Messi provided three assists, while Allende and Alba each scored a brace in Inter Miami’s 4-1 victory over the New England Revolution.

Starting XI

Rocco Ríos Novo got the start in goal, with Jordi Alba, Noah Allen, Maxi Falcón, and Ian Fray holding down the back line. Sergio Busquets, Baltasar Rodríguez, Rodri De Paul, and Tadeo Allende made up the midfield quartet, while Lionel Messi and Luis Suárez led the Herons’ attack.

Match Action

Lionel Messi got the magical night started with a pinpoint pass to a surging Tadeo Allende, who fired a shot into the Revolution’s net to give Miami a 1-0 lead in the 32nd minute.

Messi continued his superb performance with a crafty run into the New England box before slipping a short pass to Jordi Alba, who finished the play to give Inter Miami a 2-0 lead in first-half stoppage time.

Dor Torgeman pulled one back for New England in the 59th minute, blasting a shot past Ríos Novo into the top corner of the net.

Almost instantly, Lionel Messi pinged a perfect dime to Tadeo Allende, who bagged his second of the night to make it 3-1 for the Herons.

Jordi Alba sealed the deal in the 63rd minute off a slick feed from Telasco Segovia, locking in the 4-1 final scoreline.

Postgame

After the match, Sergio Busquets was honored with a special tribute celebrating his outstanding career. Jorge Mas, David Beckham, and others shared words of appreciation for the iconic Spanish midfielder.

Busquets later took some questions from the media pitchside.

Final Thoughts

Lionel Messi is a fútbol magician, and his left leg is his magic wand. Three assists to lead Inter Miami over the New England Revolution on Saturday night. Even when the GOAT isn’t scoring, he finds a way to lead the Herons.

Rodrigo De Paul had a strong showing against New England. He was active on both ends — attacking and defending for Miami. That’s the De Paul Inter Miami needs if they’re going to challenge for the MLS Cup. Hopefully, he’s finally found his rhythm and can be a consistent high performer for the rest of the season.

Jordi Alba, Noah Allen, Maxi Falcón, and Ian Fray seem to have solidified themselves as the best backline combination for Inter Miami. Let’s see if Mascherano feels the same way. Noah Allen complements Maxi Falcón well and, in my estimation, is the ideal center-back partner for him.

The postseason is almost here, and now is the time for the Herons to start soaring — because last season, they crashed and burned in the first round.
