FIU Women’s Soccer is adding more talent to the roster – Valentina Zorrilla and Delfina Lombardi. Both athletes bring needs to fill for the Panthers as they hope to push FIU to another CUSA title and a National Tournament berth.

Valentina Zorrilla – Star from Florida
Valentina Zorrilla, a midfielder from Weston, Florida, will be joining the reigning conference champions this coming season. Her soccer journey began at Cypress Bay High School, where she quickly distinguished herself as a prolific scorer and game-changer.
During her high school tenure, Zorrilla scored an impressive 25 goals and 5 assists. One highlight that stands out was her game-winning goal that propelled Cypress Bay to the state finals. Her efforts led to her being recognized as the Broward County Athletic Association (BCAA) Athlete of the Year.
Nationally, Zorrilla was ranked No. 38 overall and No. 13 in the state by MaxPreps, a testament to her elite skill level and potential. Beyond her athletic expertise, Valentina is also committed to academic excellence and is pursuing a major in Biological Sciences at FIU. Her drive and dedication on and off the field make her a well-rounded asset for the Panthers.

Delfina Lombardi – International Talent from Argentina
Delfina Lombardi, a transfer forward from Keiser University, whose soccer path showcases her international experience and rapid rise through competitive ranks. Her ability to perform under pressure caught the eye of Panther scouts and immediately brought her in. Now, as Delfina transitions to FIU, she will bring her international experience, technical shooting skills, and a competitive spirit like no other.
In 2022, Lombardi made a significant jump when she was recruited by River Plate, one of Argentina’s most prestigious clubs. Moving to join River Plate’s youth division, she developed her skills among some of the country’s best young players. She then joined Keiser, where she made an immediate impact in her 17 appearances. Totaling six goals, including an overtime winner against No. 17 Missouri Valley in the NAIA National Tournament.
2025 Season Outlook
The Panthers achieved a historic milestone by winning their first Conference USA championship in 2024 and earning their inaugural berth in the NCAA Division I women’s soccer tournament. Strengthening the roster with players like Zorrilla and Lombardi, the Panthers reinforce the team’s depth, versatility, and offensive threat. With the new duo donning the navy and gold, the Panthers’ pursuit of another NCAA tournament berth looks bright.
