Lemon City Live Heisman Watchlist Power Rankings – Week 12

Lemon City Heisman Rankings

Miami, Florida – The race may already be over for some, but for the Lemon City Live Heisman Watchlist Power Rankings, the result is far from certain. The latest slate of matchups contained more upsets and calls to “hand” the Heisman over to this player or that player. Outside of the amusing narratives people are pushing, which also include the so-called superior brand of a specific conference when the record says otherwise, the award can go to any of the big names.

Outside of this list, only a trio of individuals are left that have any shot at winning the trophy. Shedeur Sanders, Jaxson Dart, and Kurtis Rourke are still on several people’s lips with a chance to flip the script this weekend or at least stay in the race. The listing itself retained all those from the last edition with an important switch being made. Let’s jump to it.

Ashton Jeanty

Previous Ranking: 1

Boise State got off to a slow start but once the second half rolled around it was all Broncos. Ashton Jeanty rushed for 159 yards and three touchdowns in the 42-21 victory over San Jose State. With two games remaining, Jeanty has all but assured himself of hitting the 2,000-yard mark. Tallying up 1,893 yards and 26 TDs Jeanty has made a strong case. He will face Wyoming and Oregon State next. Boise State will be the heavy favorite no matter who they face in the Mountain West Championship and it will help solidify Ashton’s claim.

Travis Hunter

Previous Ranking: 4

The Colorado Buffaloes took care of Utah 49-24 partly due to Travis Hunter. Although he was quiet on offense with five catches for 55 yards and a five-yard TD rush, Hunter recorded three tackles, a blocked pass, and an interception that he ran back for 21 yards. The two-way star has 74 catches for 911 yards and nine TDs. Defensively, Travis has 23 tackles, eight pass breakups, and three picks on top of a forced fumble. He may not be the top of the crop at any individual position but Hunter has shown effectiveness on both sides of the ball.

Cam Ward

Previous Ranking: 3

The sheer amount of disrespect towards this player is crazy. Cam Ward takes a weekend off and suddenly he is out of sight out of mind. That suits Miami’s signal caller just fine providing plenty more fuel in his next game versus Wake Forest. With two opponents remaining Ward’s leadership will be tested. After Georgia Tech there is little room for error.

Dillon Gabriel

Previous Ranking: 2

Yikes. The Oregon Ducks barely squeaked by Wisconsin winning 16-13. If it wasn’t for the costly interception the top four in the country would be vastly different. Dillon Gabriel was putrid throwing for 218 yards and an interception. The performance cost him dearly with some folks throwing him out of the accolade conversation. Everyone has a bad game including Heisman hopefuls. I would be lying if I didn’t think about tossing him right out of the top five. He stays for now.

Jalen Milroe

Previous Ranking: 5

The Alabama QB took care of business versus Mercer. Jalen Milroe completed 11 of 16 passes for 186 yards and a pair of touchdowns adding another on the ground. Since the opponent was anything but difficult and Milroe did what was needed the signal caller kept out the others. His team remains in the thick of things in terms of the CFP but unless he churns out golden performances against Oklahoma and Auburn I don’t see Milroe getting past third on the power rankings.
