Lemon City Live 2024 Heisman Watch List Power Rankings Week 6

Heisman watch week 6

Miami, Florida – It was another wild week in college football shaking up the AP Top 25 and our Lemon City Live Heisman Watch List Power Rankings. Multiple ranked teams suffered upsets while the Cardiac Canes completed a thrilling 25-point rally for the West Coast Comeback. The list itself saw changes both at the top and bottom with a new name cracking the rankings. Despite two players on a bye week, the table was tough to write up. Considering that there’s plenty of football left it’s anyone’s guess who the Heisman finalists will be let alone the winner.

Each week the list of hopefuls contracts as the competition’s body of work becomes insurmountable. We’re not there yet but some that were on the watch list to start the season are becoming longshots. Believe it or not, Quinn Ewers is still in the mix with the latest reporting stating he is expected to start this Saturday versus No. 18 Oklahoma in the Allstate Red River Rivalry at Dallas. Without further ado let’s jump in.

Ashton Jeanty

Previous Ranking: 2

It’s hard to argue against these numbers. Ashton Jeanty is tearing it up in a big way. In his latest performance, the Boise State running back ran over the Utah State Aggies churning 186 yards on 13 carries scoring three touchdowns. Some folks might argue the strength of his opponents or rather lack thereof. Many have yet to get into the meat of their schedules and in Jeanty’s case, he managed 192 yards and three TDs against the seventh-ranked Oregon Ducks. He’s crossed the centennial mark in all five contests this season meaning he is obliterating the opposition week in and week out. Consistency.

Cam Ward

Previous Ranking: 1

His drop had less to do with the Cal game and more with how crazy Ashton Jeanty’s numbers are. Cam Ward received ACC Player of the Week for the third straight week (fourth overall). On top of that, he was awarded AP’s National Player of the Week for his late-game heroics against the Golden Bears. Ward has thrown for 2,219 yards, 20 touchdowns, and five interceptions. He knows how to scramble adding three more rushing TDs to the tally. Twice he’s thrown himself in and out of trouble showing that you can never count out the Canes.

Jalen Milroe

Previous Ranking: 3

If Shedeur Sanders wasn’t on a bye, Jalen Milroe would’ve faced a stiffer challenge. The Crimson Tide signal-caller racked up a lot of yards and let the rush have all the fun completing 18 of 24 passes for 310 yards and a touchdown complemented by another on the ground. Milroe turned the ball over twice including a pick and a lost fumble but the defense gave up 40 points. There’s only so much you can do.

Shedeur Sanders

Previous Ranking: 4

Colorado’s QB rested in preparation for a home battle with No. 18 Kansas State their toughest opponent to date. Shedeur Sanders has thrown for 1,630 yards and 14 TDs with only three interceptions in the effort. Mark this down as a must-watch for (really) late-night TV.

Will Howard

Previous Ranking: NR

Beating out Dillon Gabriel for the final spot in the power rankings, Will Howard enters the list after accumulating five touchdowns including four in the air versus Iowa. Granted, the Ohio State Buckeyes were off to a very slow start hanging on to a 7-0 lead at halftime, they exploded in the second half including three touchdowns for the third quarter. Gabriel can settle this dispute on Saturday night during primetime.
