Lemon City Live Heisman Watchlist Power Rankings – Week 13

Miami, Florida – FBS football’s newest wave of chaos has set up a wild final week of the season for the Lemon City Live Heisman Watchlist Power Rankings. The ACC championship game will come down to the winner of Miami versus Syracuse. Meanwhile, there’s a four-way tie for first in the Big 12 and the SEC’s chances of greater representation in the CFP has taken a huge hit. Thanks to the stumbles of several teams, Georgia will return to the conference championship facing the winner of Texas versus Team A&M.

Jalen Milroe, Jaxson Dart, and Kurtis Rourke are out of the running for the Heisman. With that said the fifth spot on this list is probably also out. There is little change in this edition. Those ahead made sure they remained in the lead. Let’s jump right into it.

The Boise State Broncos nearly wrecked themselves against the Wyoming Cowboys squeaking by with a 17-13 win. Ashton Jeanty kept the lead by rushing for 169 yards including a touchdown. Hitting the centennial mark for the 11th time and scoring is what kept Jeanty at the top of the totem pole. Otherwise, this was Travis Hunter’s to take. Ashton crossed the 2,000-yard mark (2,062) complemented by 27 TDs for 2024. He faces Oregon State to end the regular season.

That 37-21 loss to Kansas is one of the big upsets this past weekend. Travis Hunter played well, however, catching eight passes for 125 yards and two touchdowns. On defense, he successfully deflected a pass. When you compare him to other players, he is in the top 20 among defensive backs and the top 10 among wide receivers. Since folks grade him on playing both positions I keep an eye on his activity. Had Travis failed to record a defensive stat of consequence (Not doing snap counts) like in a previous week his stock would’ve fallen.

I’m sure people would’ve said to put Cam Ward in the two spot especially since he is re-writing Miami’s record book. Despite throwing for 280 yards and recording three touchdowns, the strength of his opponent is factored in. UM didn’t even start to pull away until the fourth quarter versus Wake Forest. Unlike others on this list, he faces the strongest matchup this weekend. Ward wins here and he has Syracuse next with a trip to the ACC Championship on the line.

The Quack Attack Oregon Ducks are the only undefeated team remaining. I hate moving players on the bye week so Dillon Gabriel was saved from possibly slipping further. He will end the season at home versus Washington. Gabriel will need to put up a good performance since the near upset to Wisconsin has hurt his chances.

Welcome back, Mr. Sanders. After a two-week absence, the Colorado Buffaloes’ signal caller fought his way back into the rankings. This was a mix of failures from Milroe, Dart, and Rourke in addition to his stat line. Sanders threw for 266 yards and three touchdowns. There were no INTs. The defeat affects his chances and barring some crazy chain of events Shedeur’s ship for the Heisman already sailed.
