The FIU Women’s Soccer midfielder room is getting deeper with two new additions, Maya Maxwell and international talent Maria Lucia Dogliani. The Panthers are stacked, which could lead to some good trouble for new head coach Matt Dunn.

He will have to make a few tough decisions on who will start this season. However, with so much talent available, whoever is on the field for the Panthers will help lead them to success.

From Louisville to Miami

Flying from her hometown of Louisville, Kentucky, Maya Maxwell brings versatility and attacking style to the Panthers’ midfield. A senior transfer from the University of Louisville showed early promise before having her season cut short with an injury in her sophomore year. In that year, she started in five of the seven games she played in and registered five shots.

Maya’s journey dates back to Ballard High, where she delivered an eye-opening 96 goals and 59 assists over three seasons, earning her All‑State honors and being named offensive MVP twice. Her record-breaking 37 goals as a freshman, 35 as a sophomore, and 24 as a junior highlight her versatility, creativity, and finishing.

International Flair

Joining Maxwell is Maria Lucia Dogliani, the Italian midfielder, who arrives from Juventus FC and Como Women. While in Italy, she had plenty of success in national and international tournaments. She played in France, Austria, Switzerland, as well as North and Central Italy.

Dogliani’s athletic ability extends beyond soccer as she was the provincial inter-school running race winner, showing off her speed and competitiveness. Exceling not only on the field but off the field as well, Maria has won many accolades.

She won awards such as the Bocconi University prize in logic & physics and earned the best-essay award twice. Maria’s hard work and determination bleed into her soccer abilities and accomplishments.

What This Means For FIU

These two recruits showcase the FIU midfielder room and their effort to blend homegrown talent with international experience. Maxwell’s attacking instincts combined with Dogliani’s tactical insight can lead to an aggressive and creative lineup.
