FIU Men’s Soccer Finalizes Roster For 2025 Season


MIAMI, FL – The FIU Men’s Soccer team has announced their final batch of signings on the roster for the upcoming 2025 season. Here are the players who will continue their careers at Florida International University.

Lukas Pareja

Pareja is a 5’6 midfielder from Oakville, Ontario.

Lukas Pareja played for York United FC in the Canadian Premier League. Of Colombian descent, he made his professional debut on September 28, 2024, in a match against Forge FC. Before that, he played for Calvary FC U21 in League1 Alberta.

Pareja scored a goal in 11 appearances in 2024. His ability to demonstrate dynamism and technical skills in scoring chances, led the club’s scout, Oliver Minatel, to recruit him.

Lukas Pareja also has previous youth soccer experience with the North Mississauga Soccer Club.

Johan Arevalo

Arevalo is a 5’9 forward from Mission, Texas.

Johan Arevalo played for Florida Memorial University in Miami Gardens last season. He made 12 starts in 14 matches, leading the team in goals (9), assists (6), and points (24). Arevalo had three multi-goal games and was named First-Team All-SUN. Before that, Arevalo played soccer at Jarvis Christian University in Hawkins, TX for the past three seasons.

As a junior, he netted six goals and tallied six assists in 15 games. In his sophomore season, he logged 13 goals with five assists in 14 starts. Johan Arevalo scored seven goals with two assists in 12 games during the 2021 season.

He’s currently majoring in engineering management and attended Juarez-Lincoln High School. While there, he played for head coach Victor Ramos, earning First-Team All-Area and First-Team All-District, as well as Offensive Player of the Year recognition. His favorite team is Real Madrid, and his favorite movie is Planet of the Apes.

Scott Neil

Neil is a 5’8, 143-pound midfielder from Kilmarnock, Scotland.

Scott Neil last played for Barry University in Miami for the past two seasons. Known for his pace and speed, he started in all 16 of his appearances in 2024, scoring a pair of goals and tallying six assists in 1,085 minutes.

In 2023, he started in 17 of his 19 games, scoring three goals and tallying five assists while averaging 68.6 minutes per game.

Two of those goals and an assist came in the playoffs. Some of his accolades that season include being named to the All-SSC Tournament team and Third-Team All-SCC as a forward. Scott Neil led the Buccaneers to the SCC regular season and tournament titles for the first time in program history.

Academically, Neil made the Athletic Director’s List both semesters and was named to the SSC Commissioner’s Honor Roll.

The exercise science major played his first two seasons of collegiate soccer for LSU-Shreveport. As a sophomore in 2022, Scott Neil led the Pilots to a 14-4-3 record. He started in 20 of his 21 matches, placing third on his team with nine goals and second with seven assists and 25 points.

Neil scored two game-winning goals, including one that led his team to clinch the Red River Athletic Conference tournament championship. He was named First-Team All-RRAC. As a freshman in 2021, Scott Neil led his club to a 12-7-1 record. He started in 15 of his 19 games, scoring three goals and finishing second on the team with seven assists.

Neil had a game-winning goal and was named First-Team All-RRAC. Remarkably, the Pilots were 11-0 when he posted a goal or assist.

He graduated high school from Grange Academy and played under coach James Grady.

Alfonso Gilleard Soriano

Soriano is a 5’10, 165-pound defender from Panama City, Panama.

Alfonso Gilleard Soriano previously played for Hartford Community College in Maryland as a freshman in 2024. He started in eight of his 10 matches, notching five goals on eight shots on goal. Soriano attended Archbishop McCarthy High School in Southwest Ranches, FL.

Alfonso Gilleard Soriano used to play youth soccer for Miami Rush Kendall SC and has attended camps such as the MLS NEXT Cup Showcase, Cornell Men’s Soccer Camp, Men’s College Soccer Prospect ID Showcase, and Kyle Russell Soccer Camp.
