On Thursday, the FIU Men’s Soccer schedule was revealed. Last season, Kyle Russell and his team went 6-6-6, reached the American Athletic Conference championship game, falling to Charlotte in overtime.

The 2025 schedule includes eight home games and eight away games. FIU will be taking on three in-state rivals.

The Panthers will play two exhibition matches at home, which will be open to the public. The first game will take place on Saturday, August 9th at 6 pm against the University of Quebec, Montreal, and on Thursday, August 14th against Stetson at 5 pm.

The Cornhusker State Heads To The 305

FIU opens the season at home against Omaha, which posted a 7-7-3 record. The last time these two teams faced off was back in 2017, when FIU won by a final score of 2-0. The game will be at Leyva Family Field at FIU Soccer Stadium on Thursday, August 21st, at 7 pm.

The Panthers will welcome Creighton on Sunday, August 24th, at 7 pm. Last season, the Bluejays went 9-6-3, falling to #24 Georgetown in the Big East tournament. This will mark the first time since 1998 that these two teams will play each other. Creighton has a record of 2-1 against FIU.

For the first time in the season, FIU will hit the road up to Raleigh, North Carolina, to take on NC State on Friday, August 29th, at 7 pm. This will mark their first men’s soccer matchup in program history. The Wolfpack went 10-5-5 in 2024.

The Panthers will stay in the Carolinas, but go to South Carolina to take on the Gamecocks on Tuesday, September 2nd at 7 pm. This will mark the 18th matchup between these two programs, as they were once both in Conference USA.

The Gamecocks have the upper hand over the Panthers, with a 10-3-4 record. The last match between these two teams took place in 2021, in which FIU won 4-1.

FIU will welcome Stony Brook on Saturday, September 6th at 7 pm. This will also mark the first match between these two programs. Last season, Stony Brook posted a 3-10-3 record, not winning a single conference game.

Facing Off Against The American

Conference play will begin on Friday, September 12th at 8 pm EST against the Memphis Tigers. Last season, the Panthers drew in the final regular season game in 2024, but knocked them off, 3-1, in the semi-final round of the AAC tournament. This game will take place in Memphis, Tennessee.

FIU’s first in-state matchup is in Miami on Thursday, September 18th at 7 pm against Florida Gulf Coast. Last season, these two teams faced each other in an exhibition match, but it will be the first time since 2023 that they face each other in a regular-season match. FIU has a record of 12-4 against the Eagles. They posted a 4-10-3 record in 2024.

The Panthers will welcome the newest team to the American Athletic Conference, Missouri State, on Sunday, September 21st, at 6 pm. The Bears are coming off a 12-4-2 season, reaching the NCAA Tournament, but falling to Kansas City in the first round. This will mark the first matchup between the two teams in program history.

Last season, FIU fell to their biggest rivals, Florida Atlantic, in the regular season by a final score of 2-1, but the Panthers got revenge in the first round of the AAC Tournament, defeating the Owls by a final score of 1-0.

All-time, FIU has a 15-5-1 record against FAU. This year’s matchup will be in Boca on Friday, September 26th, at 7 pm.

Heading To The Pacific Northwest

For the first time in program history, FIU will head to Portland and take on the University of Portland. Last season, they went 7-4-7. The game will take place on Tuesday, September 30th at 10 pm EST.

When FIU took on Temple in Philadelphia in 2024, they drew 0-0. The Panthers will welcome Temple on Friday, October 3rd at 7 pm. The Owls went 5-7-5 last season, falling to Charlotte in the first round of the AAC Tournament.

FIU opened the 2024 season against Seton Hall, defeating them, 1-0. This season, the Panthers will head to New Jersey to take on the Pirates, who posted an 11-6-1 record in 2024, falling to St. John’s University in the Big East Tournament. The game will be on Tuesday, October 7th at 7 pm.

The final in-state matchup of the season will take place in Miami against the South Florida Bulls, whom FIU fell to, 1-0, in Tampa last season. The match will take place on Sunday, October 12th at 6 pm.

FIU notched only its second all-time win against Tulsa last season by a final score of 3-1. In 2025, the Panthers will head to Tulsa, Oklahoma, to take on the Golden Hurricane. The match will take place on Saturday, October 18th, at 8 pm ET.

A Rivalry Brewing In The Queen City

One of the biggest rivalry matchups in the American Athletic Conference is between FIU and Charlotte. Last season, following a nil-nil draw, a fight broke out between both teams in Charlotte.

The 49ers had the last laugh in the AAC Tournament, winning the championship game against FIU. This time around, the game will be on Friday, October 24th at 7 pm.

The final regular season game is in Birmingham, Alabama, on Wednesday, October 29th, at 8 pm against the UAB Blazers. FIU defeated the Blazers by a final score of 32 in Miami last season.

The American Athletic Conference Tournament will take place from Friday, November 7th, to the 15th. The site and time of the tournament are yet to be determined.
