Lemon City Live Heisman Watchlist Power Rankings Week 10

Miami, Florida – We’re now in the season’s home stretch, and with it changes at the top of the Lemon City Live Heisman Watchlist Power Rankings. With roughly four weeks left, the list whittles down to a handful of Heisman hopefuls. While it isn’t too late to make a push, the opportunity rests in the hands of a few. One such individual is Cade Klubnik. He had a chance versus Louisville, however, the uninspiring performance did not help Klubnik gain any consideration. Perhaps a stellar performance against Virginia Tech and Pitt can put him on the radar.

Another individual I’m vaguely looking at is Jaxson Dart, although, it will require a heroic performance versus No. 2 Georgia. This SEC quarterback used to be on the list but flops to Kentucky and LSU derailed his standing. Outside of these two, I’m observing Ohio State’s Will Howard. Enough of the ones on the outside looking in. Let’s revisit those that cracked the list.

Cam Ward

It was easy to put Cam Ward back at the top of the list. Ward threw for 400 yards and five touchdowns breaking UM’s record for total touchdowns in a season with 33. He needed to put up Heisman numbers and he’s doing so. Cam has recorded 3,146 yards, 29 TDs, and six interceptions for 2024. Miami’s signal caller recently stated at a post-game presser that he is grateful for the consideration, however, his true goal is to win a national championship. I can respect that. Winning the Heisman trophy would still be a nice bonus for him.

The Heisman race is a tight one. Ashton Jeanty rushed for 149 yards and two touchdowns versus San Diego State keeping the Boise State running back firmly in the conversation. Jeanty will need to keep it up since his last four opponents of the season are nothing to write home about. Sitting on 1,525 yards and 20 rushing TDs, Ashton can reach 2,000 yards. If he does, a big if, it could create a strong case to at least become a finalist.

Sure Dillon Gabriel completed 294 yards throwing a touchdown and running a second himself but it felt like a missed opportunity. Gabriel has tallied 2,665 yards, 19 touchdowns, and five interceptions for 2024 granting him leeway. The Oregon Ducks face Maryland next making excellent fodder to inflate his numbers. After that, the Quack Attack takes on Wisconsin and Washington to wrap up the campaign.

The Colorado Buffaloes were on bye week giving Shedeur Sanders some rest but there’s some ground to cover. While he was on break, those ahead of him strengthened their case. Sanders will face Texas Tech with four games left in the schedule. Some experts and pundits are already ruling him out. He still has time.

I thought about having Travis Hunter switch places with Shedeur Sanders during their bye week but figured to keep it as is. I hate moving folks around who were on the bye so I keep such movement to a minimum. The two-way player has a delicious Red Raiders matchup to show why he is worthy of the award.
