Lemon City Live Heisman Watch List Power Rankings Week 7

Miami, Florida – Another week has come and gone bringing changes to the Lemon City Live Heisman Watch List Power Rankings except for the top. There is no SEC presence for the first time since we started this illustrious list. At one point, the conference had as many as three quarterbacks. Times change. However, none of those on the list knocked themselves out entirely. On the contrary, they are nipping at the heels of those at the fourth and fifth slots. Especially with several thrilling matchups that played out this past weekend. Those who watched Ohio State versus Oregon, Penn State fending off USC, Alabama nearly losing to South Carolina, or the SEC battle between Ole Miss and LSU were not disappointed.

That’s something I’ve noticed in these weekly listings. The fifth spot in particular always seems vulnerable. Considering the sheer amount of talent across the country hoping to break into rankings including a specific two-way player, the Heisman conversation is anything but solid. The SEC still has a cadre of quarterbacks that could easily bump off nearly anyone on this list any given week. Without further ado let’s jump right into it.

Ashton Jeanty

The Boise State running back keeps on rolling. Ashton Jeanty hit the centennial mark for the sixth consecutive game. The Bronco did it twice rushing for 217 yards on 31 carries notching a touchdown while he was it in the 28-7 victory over Hawaii. Jeanty also caught a pass for a TD too. For the season, Ashton has accumulated 1,248 yards and 17 TDs on the ground averaging 9.9 yards a carry. Looking over the schedule it legit looks like he can be within striking distance of 2,000 yards. That’s wild.

The face of the Miami Hurricanes was on a bye week resting up for the next critical phase of the season. Cam Ward will face Lousiville on the road coming off a close 24-20 victory against Virginia. The last time these two programs met was back in November 18, 2023. The then tenth-ranked Cardinals slipped past the Canes winning 38-31. Arguably the toughest team left on the schedule, at least on paper, the Cardiac Canes will try to avoid playing from behind for the third straight contest.

Shedeur Sanders

Colorado lost the game 31-28 but this was perhaps their best performance as a team since Deion Sanders took over.

Hanging on in the middle of the pack for some time now, Shedeur Sanders continues his impressive play. Although the Colorado Buffaloes fell to No. 18 Kansas State, Sanders threw for 388 yards completing 34 of 40 passes including three touchdowns and an interception. It was enough to get Shedeur past the 2,000-yard mark for the season totaling 17 TDs and four picks. He’ll face Arizona next in what should be another stellar game.

I told you Dillon Gabriel could settle things on Saturday and boy, did he! The third-ranked Oregon Ducks edged out No. 2 Ohio State 32-31 in an exciting battle coming down to the wire. Gabriel racked up 341 yards and a pair of touchdowns adding one more via the rush. Initially, I had him checking in at the fifth spot, however, Will Howard made a key mistake that ended the game in favor of the Quack Attack opening the door for Dillon’s ascension.

Had Will Howard avoided the ill-timed slide the list would’ve turned out differently. The Ohio State signal caller could’ve risen up in the rankings and remained ahead of Gabriel under a superior QBR. The decision-making is what keeps him firmly in the final spot of the Lemon City Live Heisman Watch List Power Rankings. Howard heads into a bye week and will face Nebraska at home on October 26th. There are no guarantees he will be here next week especially when the SEC is gunning to return here.
