How It Started
In the 23rd minute forward Billy Forbes lobbed a ball into the box for Sean McFarlane, where he was able to open the scoring for Miami FC. His shot slid low past the keeper’s far side to give Miami the early 1-0 lead. Miami would have a couple of other opportunities in the first half but would head into halftime up 1-0.

In the second half, Miami faced some adversity, giving up the equalizer to Charlotte’s Jake Areman off a free-kick. In a game that was chippy at times, both teams combined for 29 fouls. However, Miami was able to capitalize on being more aggressive on the attack, breaking the deadlock with a play that came from two second-half substitutes.
Forward Adonijah Reid replaced Billy Forbes in the 63rd minute and Pierre Da Silva replaced Junior Palacios in the 67th minute. The pair teamed up for the eventual game-winner in the 74th minute. Da Silva played a ball to Reid, who then chipped Charlotte’s goalkeeper from a distance for a wonderful finish. It was Da Silva’s first assist of the season and Reid’s first goal of the season in four appearances.
Post Game Wrap
“I turned my shoulder and I saw Pierre running behind, fortunately, I saw the goalkeeper fell for his run and played me back the ball and I saw the net wide open, and I had a chance,” said Reid.
Miami FC was able to control the possession, and lead the game with a total of five shots on target.
“It was a complete performance, against a really good team. We have to take great confidence from that and hopefully gain a little bit of respect from that,” said Head Coach Paul Dalglish.
