MIAMI, FL – First reported by On3 and later confirmed by FIU Athletics, quarterback Keyone Jenkins has withdrawn his name from the transfer portal. He’ll be set to likely start for FIU Football in his upcoming junior season.

The Miami Central High product will be the first FIU quarterback since Alex McGough to play for three seasons with the Panthers. (2014-16)

Jenkins had entered the transfer portal following the firing of head coach Mike MacIntyre.

However, newly-appointed head coach Willie Simmons confirmed in his opening presser that he had spoken to Jenkins among other Panthers who had entered the transfer portal.

Jenkins had received interest from multiple power conference schools. Regardless of NIL and its impact on his decision, immediate playing time would not have been guaranteed with a new team.

This past season, Jenkins completed 188 passes for 2,557 yards, 22 touchdowns, and eight interceptions. He earned CUSA Player Of The Week Honors twice.

Records are meant to be broken, and Jenkins will have a shot at the FIU single-season passing yards record currently held by Max Bortenschlager with 2,935. He’ll also have a shot at the single-season touchdown record of 26, currently held by James Morgan.
