FIU Men’s Soccer Dominates in 4–0 Win Over UQAM

MIAMI, FL – The FIU men’s soccer team delivered a dominating performance in their exhibition match, celebrating a 4–0 victory over the University of Quebec-Montreal.

From the beginning, the Panthers dictated the tempo, showcasing a pressuring offense and a defensive showcase to excite Panther fans.

First Half FIU Masterclass

FIU wasted no time striking twice within the first 15 minutes of play. The Panthers were aggressive, pressing UQAM deep in their side of play for majority of the half.

On the defensive end, the Panthers stood strong, holding UQAM to no score in the first half of play. UQAM failed to get anywhere near the FIU goal until the 22nd minute mark, where the Panthers’ goalkeeper came up with a clean save to hold the 2-0 lead.

At the 20:38 mark, FIU capitalized on another  push to make it 3–0, their third goal of the night. By halftime, FIU had racked up seven total shots to UQAM’s three, and completely owned the half.

The second half brought a slight shift, as UQAM came out with a purpose, moving the ball into dangerous Panther territory.

However, FIU’s back line refused to break down as UQAM were unable to score on their best threat of the night. The Panthers continued make their presence when at the 24:25 mark they FIU struck again. This time on a well-placed header, the lead grew to 4–0.

The Panthers Seal the Win

FIU ended the match with a 15–3 advantage in total shots and a defensive clinic with zero shots allowed in the second half.

The clean sheet showed the back line’s discipline but also the effort of the midfield in disrupting passing lanes and winning back possession.

With preseason momentum firmly in their favor, the Panthers will aim to carry that into their next exhibition match.

That’ll be on August 14th vs the Stetson Hatters at Leyva Family Field.
