It’s been about a month since FIU Baseball played its final game of the 2024 season.
With a couple of players entering the portal, including starting pitcher Joel Pineiro, FIU manager Rich Witten went into the WAC Conference and brought in Jarek Woodward, who has two years of eligibility remaining.
This past season, Woodward made 10 starts in 18 appearances. He posted a 5.50 ERA, 7.9 K/9, and 1.5 BB/9 through 55.2 innings pitched.
The newest Panther has a fastball (91-94mph), slider (80-83mph), curveball (74-76mph) and changeup (81-84mph).
Woodward can find himself in the running for a starting rotation spot, but a swingman role early on isn’t out of the question for him.
A strong fastball with a wide variety of secondary pitches that generate plenty of swing and miss.
