MIAMI, FL – One of the top additions for FIU Baseball this offseason through the transfer portal is former Florida Southern College first baseman and outfielder Jeff Liquori, who has officially joined the Panthers roster.

“It was a long process,” said Liquori on Friday. “Some stuff going on at my old school and it just wasn’t working out over there and FIU hit me up through the portal and everything worked out with them and now we are here and I am loving it so far.”

In 2022, the Division Two product slashed .345/.389/.571/.959 with 10 home runs and 45 RBIs. The expectation for Liquori will be to see him in right field given that the team currently has Adrian Figueroa and Ryne Guida at first base along with the addition of Brylan West.

“Coming from a D2 school, it’s a lot different. Everything is a lot more structured and well and I love it. I’ve improved throughout the month and a half that we’ve been here and everything is great here.”

Liquori did play in center field during the Summer League and he mentioned how all three outfield spots are the same for him, so he isn’t too worried about where he goes.
What stands out about Liquori is the ability to get on base and hit the ball out of the park, which the Panthers lacked in the 2022 season.

“It’s been fantastic,” said FIU head coach Rich Witten when asked about Liquori. “He was a big recruit for us this summer out of the transfer portal. Very sought after, and we were fortunate to land him. He’s just been a fantastic young man.

He’s jumped right in and he’s enjoying himself. He’s very appreciative and thankful for every resource that we have here and the opportunities that he’s been given.”
