Expectations Are Sky High For FIU Baseball Going Into 2025

MIAMI, FL – After reaching the Conference USA Tournament for the first time since 2015, FIU baseball and head coach Rich Witten are looking to go further into the tournament. In his second year at the helm, Witten and the Panthers posted an overall 27-30 record and went 11-13 in conference play.

The big factor for FIU will be their returning players. The Panthers offense will be led by Conference USA Preseason selection Kishon Frett who hit 16 home runs, third most in program history. Brylan West and Alex Ulloa will also be key in the Panthers’ offense living up to the hype that it did in 2024.

On the mound, Logan Runde, who made 14 appearances in his first year with FIU will look to be a part of the rotation in 2025. He was part of a pitching staff that led the conference in ERA and walks, two stats you do not want to be leading in. Runde, who posted a 4.43 ERA through 42.2 innings pitched will look to improve.

A big reason for his lack of action was due to a midseason injury which kept him out for a bit.

FIU will open the 2025 season against Stonehill on Friday, February 14 at 6:30 pm.
