MIAMI, FL – The Panthers look to continue their winning streak and extend it to eight games. In their way, the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers looked to add their fifth conference win and give the Panthers their first conference loss of the season.

In just the first half of action, FIU forced 11 turnovers and on the offensive side, the Panthers were led by none other than Kaliah Henderson who had seven points, three rebounds, and one steal in the first half of action.

What stood out defensively from the Hilltoppers was the fact that they were able to limit FIU to just 11 points, winning that quarter. Although the Panthers forced 11 turnovers in just one quarter, Western Kentucky forced 13.

Second Half of Action

The second half of action saw the Panthers take a lead that they wouldn’t lose. Led by Henderson and the Panthers making 40 points off of rebounds, FIU ends up winning the game, 70-60.

For the Panthers, a 9-0 with about five minutes left in the game sealed the deal. FIU ended up forcing a total of 18 turnovers and using their size as an advantage, outrebounding the Hilltoppers, 46-32.

Henderson continued her dream season by scoring 10 points, five rebounds, and one steal. Henderson was 4-10 from the field. Along with Henderson, off the bench, Mya Kone led the way with 13 points, six rebounds, and one block. She was 4-8 from the field.

FIU ended the night with four players in double-digit scoring – Henderson, Tanajah Hayes, Mya Kone, and Angena Belloso. All in all, a total team effort for the Panthers tonight.

On the defensive side of this game, FIU was able to end the night with 20 points off of turnovers thanks to Tanajah Hayes who ended the night with four steals but also helped out on the offensive end scoring nine points and going 2-4 from behind the arc.

With the win, FIU moves to 5-0 in conference play and continues their win streak, which goes to eight games.

The Panthers are back in the bank on Saturday as they take on the only other undefeated team left in Conference USA, the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders. One team will no longer be undefeated on Saturday.
