MIAMI, FL – The head coach of FIU Women’s Basketball, Jesyka Burks-Wiley, has received a contract extension to continue coaching the Panthers.
Officially, she’s been extended to the 2027-28 season. She’s the eighth head coach in FIU Women’s Basketball history. Before FIU, she spent three seasons as an assistant coach with USF.
Burks-Wiley joined FIU back in 2020 and led the Panthers to a 15-13 record in her first season – the program’s best since 2012.
Since joining the Panthers, the team has maintained a near .500 record or better since her arrival. Last season was the best season of her tenure for the program as FIU finished with a 21-12 record, winning a game in the WNIT.
The team has gotten off to a hot start already with a 132-25 win over Florida National. They’re set to host Abilene Christian on Friday, November 8th at 7pm.
