MIAMI, FL – Thursday night marked the fourth clean sheet win for FIU women’s soccer this season as, after two weather delays, they put the winless Stetson Hatters in their place, shutting them out by a score of 4-0.
Following their first loss of the season to Mississippi State on Sunday, the Panthers looked to rebound back home, though they had to wait a bit longer thanks to a pair of weather delays.
After there was no more lightning in the area, FIU got to work on the field. The first goal of the night came in the third minute thanks to Reagan Bridges who scored her first goal of the year on a header off a Noemi Paquin assist.
In the 15th minute of action, Brealyn Viamille scored the second goal of the night and her first on the season thanks to an assist by Nikole Solis.
The Panthers took a 2-0 lead, but according to Viamille and defender Kennedy Floyd, they didn’t play up to the standards that they would’ve liked.
In the second half of the game, FIU was able to tack on two more goals thanks to Solis in the 49th minute and then Floyd in the 89th minute, right before the match ended.
Overall, the Panthers came out and took care of business on their home turf and beat a Stetson team that hasn’t had any success this season.
As it has been for most of this season, FIU was the more aggressive team as they finished the night with 17 shots while the Hatters had only two shots total.
The win now bumps up the Panthers record to 4-1. This was the first game in a five-game homestand for FIU, as their next four matches will all be in Miami. Up next is the Louisiana Rajin’ Cajuns on Sunday, September 3rd at 11am.
