MIAMI, FL – With the FIU soccer season coming down to the end, the #14 Panthers played their final non-conference game of the season against the FGCU Eagles. After an early goal in the first half, the Panthers didn’t look back and took the win.

Early in the game, it was a back-and-forth between both teams, but the Panthers seemed outmatched as the Eagles had more shots than them and just looked better overall.

In the 30th minute of action, Simon Afrifa scored the Panthers goal to give them a 1-0 lead. Afrifa has now scored in back-to-back games, the first time he’s done that this season.

The second half of action was a quiet one for both teams. FIU would end the night with five shots against the Eagles 12. What helped the Panthers was on the defensive end. Goalie Tyler Hogan ended the match with four saves.

A total of two yellow cards were issued against FIU. One to Owen Travis and a second to Matthias Lavenant.

The Panthers head to Boca Raton to wrap up their final stretch of conference games against the FAU Owls on Friday at 7:00 pm. For the first time in Paws Up Podcast history, we will also have live coverage from Florida Atlantic University.
