Davie, Fla. — The Miami Dolphins and Ashley HomeStore surprised 100 underprivileged children with the gift of comfortable sleep for years come at the second annual South Florida Hope to Dream Sleepover. Each of the children enjoyed a sleepover party at the Baptist Health Training Facility, where they received their very own twin-size bed and bedding from Ashley HomeStore, decked out with a Miami Dolphins comforter.

“Seeing the surprise and joy on so many kids’ faces makes this an event we love creating with the Dolphins,” said Keith Koenig, president of City Furniture, the Southeast and Southwest Florida licensee for City Furniture. “The children have the chance to party on the training field and get up close with players, and it’s great knowing they’ll rest easy on their new beds for years to come.”

The event hosted by the Miami Dolphins on June 23 was the latest gridiron-themed sleepover for Ashley HomeStore’s international Hope to Dream initiative. The kids enjoyed dinner, toured the Dolphins locker room and powered through fun games and activities with Miami Dolphins players Andre Branch, Davon Godchaux, Xavien Howard, Raekwon McMillan, cheerleaders and mascot TD before a dance party on their new beds.

“Some kids didn’t have a bed to sleep on before they came,” Dolphins LB Raekwon McMillan said. “When they leave tomorrow, they’ll be able to sleep good because of us giving back and having fun with them tonight. The Miami Dolphins are like a family – everything we do is for the community and for the people around us.”

Ashley HomeStore, the largest furniture retailer in the U.S., dedicates a portion of proceeds from every mattress sale at participating locations to its Hope to Dream program, which has donated 50,000 new beds and bedding to children in need since 2010. All Ashley HomeStore locations in Miami-Dade through Martin counties in South Florida are active year-round in the Hope to Dream charity’s donation program.

Also helping bring the South Florida Hope to Dream Sleepover to life were Simmons Serta, Bedgear and Mantua.
