Dolphins Look To Turn Season Around In MNF Rematch vs. Titans

MIAMI GARDENS, FL – With the NFL season in full swing, the Miami Dolphins are still searching for answers as their journey to the playoffs keeps taking hit after hit. Now, they’re staring down a MNF rematch of one of the most heartbreaking losses in recent memory.

A Very Stagnant Offense, F0r Sure…

Following their blowout loss to Seattle, Miami will have to adjust and somehow make their offense efficient again. The missing piece for the squad is still quarterback, as neither Skylar Thompson nor Tim Boyle have proven themselves to be reliable starters in one of the toughest positions on the field. In addition, Thompson is injured with a rib/chest injury.

This process has gone to show how valuable Tua Tagovailoa was to this team and the way the offense has looked under his command. Skylar does not have the pocket presence, accuracy, or leadership that Tua has. With an offense with as many explosive players as Miami has, all it takes is one outlier for it to come crashing down.

Tyler Huntley *should* get the nod for Monday Night. His solid experience as a backup (with impressive numbers and accolades to boot) with Baltimore gives some hope that he can fill the role of starter just as well as any backup could.

There’s no denying it, there are some great backups in the NFL right now. With what Malik Willis and Andy Dalton are doing for Green Bay and Carolina among others, it’s disappointing to see question marks about the position for the Dolphins.

Miami’s defense looked fine, and the whole team isn’t injured yet. But an offense that can’t reliably move the ball down the field (let alone score) might make this Monday Night Football contest into a snoozefest.

For as bad as I’m bashing Miami’s offense, they’re not the worst in the NFL.

But The Titans Are On Another Level

*That* title might go to the Titans of Nashville, Tennessee.

The Titans stand with an 0-3 record after losses to Chicago, the New York Jets, and Green Bay.

Will Levis leads Tennessee at quarterback and has had very mixed results so far. He’s shown flashes of accuracy, but with four touchdowns, five interceptions, and three fumbles to this point, he might be holding their offense back. Their offensive line hasn’t looked stellar, but the mistakes for Levis keep piling up.

Miami fans might recall Levis from last season’s Monday Night Football game against the Titans, in which he led back-to-back touchdown drives with minutes to go to stun the Dolphins. As it turned out, that game helped Miami lose the AFC East Division title – and as a result – a chance of hosting a playoff game.

Tony Pollard leads the team in rushing yards with 158 total and is a serviceable back in his first year with the team after spending six seasons in Dallas.

Tennessee has a solid receiver trio of experienced players with Calvin Ridley, Deandre Hopkins, and Tyler Boyd – all of which have looked okay but haven’t separated themselves as some of the best receivers in football.

Jamal Adams, Quandre Diggs, and L’Jarius Sneed all join a very new-look defense for Tennessee that has had mixed results so far. Seven sacks are decent, but the unit has not produced an interception and only one forced fumble.

Final Thoughts

I guarantee you ESPN didn’t think this would be the scenario when they scheduled this for Monday Night.

It’s a battle between two of the most inefficient offenses in football and might result in a low-scoring, fast-moving contest that’ll fly by. Still, Miami has the better lineup of stars on both sides of the ball which should be just enough to win this paper.

The fact that they’re at home – not to mention a lot of players for Miami likely remember how Tennessee took them down last season – might give them the slightest of advantages.
