Miami Gardens, FL – On October 30th, the Miami Dolphins hosted the second-annual Football UNITES Jason Jenkins Day of Service. They were joined by local officials, community partners, corporate sponsors, restaurant partners, local media, and members of the South Florida community.
This event honored the life and legacy of Jason Jenkins, the Dolphins’ former Senior Vice President of Communications and Community Affairs for the second straight year. Jenkins oversaw Miami’s marketing, public relations, social media, and community efforts. Tragically, Jenkins unexpectedly passed away in August 2022.
October 30th is Jenkins’ birthday, which would have been his fiftieth birthday. About 650 volunteers from the Dolphins, Hard Rock Stadium, Miami Open, and the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix spent 1,600 hours across over 25 community projects in South Florida.
This includes serving meals to over 200 people, planting over 300 fruits and vegetables, and packaging 23,900 pounds of food. Overall, their efforts impacted over 900 children and young adults.

“I’m filled with gratitude to see how, not only this organization, but the South Florida community continues to keep Jason’s legacy alive,” said Elizabeth Jenkins, the wife of Jason. “On what would have been his 50th birthday, Jason would have been proud to see our children, Liya, Aiden, and Sloane, alongside this organization serving the community that he dedicated so much of his life to serving.”
“Thank you to the local officials, media members, Football UNITES™ community partners, corporate partners, and everyone who joined us to celebrate and remember him today. We miss him deeply but understand that serving one another is the best way that we can continue his legacy and make a positive impact in South Florida and beyond.”
This event will positively affect around 22,000 members of Dade, Broward, and West Palm. Some notable groups that took part include Feeding South Florida, Beauty Initiative, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and SunServe.
