MIAMI, FL – Earlier today, NFL All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey signed a three-year extension with the Miami Dolphins, keeping the star talent in South Florida for years to come.
The new deal is worth over $72.3 million – $24.1 million annually – with $55.3 million guaranteed. This will ensure that Ramsey is the highest-paid defensive back in the NFL, barely edging out Patrick Sutain of the Denver Broncos by $100 thousand. This is another move in an offseason headlined by extensions to big-name talent, including wide receiver Jaylen Waddle, quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, and head coach Mike McDaniel.

Ramsey is dealing with a minor hamstring injury that has kept him off the field for consecutive practices. While he was named a team captain, it’s unclear if he’ll play in Miami’s first game of the season against Jacksonville this upcoming Sunday.
Miami landed Ramsey last offseason in a trade with the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for a third-round pick and tight end Hunter Long. In his 2023 campaign – which was limited early on due to a knee injury suffered in training camp – Ramsey recorded three interceptions and a Pro Bowl spot.
Ramsey earned his first and only championship when he won Super Bowl LVI with the Rams in the 2021 season. A Florida State Alum, he was drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars and was part of the “Sacksonville” defense that helped lead the Jags to the AFC Championship in 2017, ultimately losing to Tom Brady and the New England Patriots.
