Dolphins Lifeless in Humiliation to Browns

Dolphins Lifeless Humiliation Browns

CLEVELAND, OH – When things couldn’t get any worse, the Miami Dolphins have reached a new low. Week after week, they have continued to frustrate and disappoint on the field. It was a rainy and windy Sunday afternoon, during which the Dolphins showed no fight. The Cleveland Browns entered the game with a 1-5 record and no expectations of pulling off a big win. The Dolphins ended up looking lifeless in a 30-6 humiliation loss to the Browns.

Tua Benched

Tua Tagovailoa had one of the worst games of his career. His statistics weren’t pretty. Tagovailoa went 12-of-23 for 100 yards, three picks, and a quarterback rating of 24.1.

His first pick came at the start of the 3rd quarter, when he threw a pass intended for De’Von Achane. The throw bounced off Achane’s hands, but it was a bit high. Regardless, the Browns made him pay, taking it all the way to the house for a score.

Pick number two came in the 4th quarter as he misthrew the ball in the endzone, intended for Julian Hill.

His third interception came on the next drive. Tagovailoa wanted to throw to Tanner Conner, but he was surrounded by Cleveland defenders. That was enough.

Quinn Ewers got his shot and finished going 5-of-8 for 53 yards. He threw this 40-yard pass under pressure.

Costly Penalties for Defense

Cleveland only amassed 206 yards of offense, and Dillon Gabriel didn’t impress either, completing 13 of 18 passes for 116 yards.  Nearly half of their points were easily scored thanks to Miami’s offense.

However, the Dolphins had more penalties (7) than 1st downs by halftime (6). Most of those penalties were on the defense. Holding, roughing the passer, pass interference, and unnecessary roughness penalties are too costly to take.

Quinshon Judkins had just 25 rushes for 84 yards, but the problem was that he scored three touchdowns.

The Dolphins blitzed a lot and failed to really put up pressure on Gabriel. It was just another game where they stopped to come up with a big play.

McDaniel and Grier are Safe

After the game, everyone took to social media to voice their frustration with Miami’s leadership. There was no way Mike McDaniel’s and Chris Grier would have jobs after this kind of loss.

It was then confirmed on Monday from an executive close to Stephen Ross that both McDaniel and Grier’s jobs were safe.

Moving Forward

Tua Tagovailoa will remain the starter in week 8 as the Dolphins take on the Falcons in Atlanta.

The Dolphins’ offensive line must fix their rhythm to prevent the Falcons, who have the number one pass defense in the NFL, from pressuring Tagovailoa.
