CORAL GABLES, FL – Jai Lucas and the Miami Hurricanes have announced the signings of additional staff members for the upcoming 2025-26 season.
Russell Springmann
Springmann comes to Coral Gables with over two decades of experience under his belt. He started off as a graduate assistant for two seasons under Billy Donovan at Florida back in 1996.
From 2001 to 2015, he was an assistant coach under Rick Barnes at Texas. The Longhorns had a 334-149 record with 13 NCAA Tournament appearances, including five of them being in the Sweet 16. He helped recruit 14 McDonald’s All-Americans. Two of those won National Player of the Year honors: T.J. Ford (2003) and Kevin Durant (2007).
After Texas, he spent a year as a scout for the Oklahoma City Thunder and two seasons as an assistant coach at San Diego.
His most recent coaching tenure has come at Oral Roberts. While there, he was an assistant from 2018-2023 before being promoted to head coach for the next two seasons. During Springmann’s time, the Golden Eagles made two NCAA Tournament appearances. As a 15-seed in 2021, they made a historic Sweet 16 run where they upset teams such as Ohio State and Florida.
Russell Springmann has worked with high-profile NBA players in his career. Durant, LaMarcus Aldridge, and Tristan Thompson are among the 15 NBA draft picks that he’s coached.

Luke Testani
Testani has been hired as the Video Coordinator. Coming in with prior experience at the U, Testani was a graduate assistant at Miami from 2020-22. At the time, his video-related tasks included making scouting reports and managing film exchange.
He spent the past two seasons at Iona. In 2023-24, he was the Video Coordinator and was promoted to Director of Analytics/Player Personnel for the 2024-25 season. In the latter role, he provided statistical analysis and was in charge of tasks such as player development and recruiting support.
