Miami, FL – The Miami Heat introduced their three newly acquired players, via the NBA Trade Deadline, at a press conference on Sunday. It began early, starting at 9:00 AM sharp as Pat Riley had no time to waste and was eager to see them on the practice court, saying
“I just want to welcome Kyle, Wiggs, and Davion to the Heat. They are now officially part of what we do believe in, which is our culture here with the Heat. And we believe they are perfect players to be part of that. I think they’ll show it.”
For the new Heat players, this press conference was a great way for them to get settled into a winning culture for a team that’s seeking to win their first title since 2013.

Welcome abroad to Miami
Since he was the centerpiece of the trade, Andrew Wiggins got the most attention from the media. When asked about how he’s adjusting to a new environment, he responded by saying
“It’s hard. But that’s the NBA, transitioning midseason. That’s the NBA. It’s a business. But I’m here. I’m looking forward to it. I’m excited. I think we can do something special here.”
Wiggins made it clear he’s ready to start the next chapter of his NBA career donning a Heat uniform and has respect for the organization, saying
“They’re a winning organization. They do things right. They do it the right way and when you come here, you’ve just got to be ready to work. I feel like with hard work comes winning, comes success, and that’s part of the Heat culture.”
Also known as “Off-Night” for being an elite defender, Davion Mitchell talked about his new presence in the locker room, saying
“I’m super excited. Even in my rookie year seeing Miami, seeing the culture… seeing how hard they play. I mean, I think honestly, I fit right in. Go out there be myself, keep being a defensive presence. Show that from day one, be the anchor in the front…guarding the best player. Whoever got the ball, try to turn them over…try to speed them up. Just trying to do things that they don’t want to do.”
Kyle Anderson responded to how his skillset ability can fit in with the Heat, saying
“Just being myself. Being a guide, it’s being a playmaker out there, making decisions, making the right pass. Scoring at the opportunity [when] it presents itself. This year, we got shooters over here…guys that could put the whole ball in the basket. And I’ve always flourished playing with guys who are able to score the ball. Looking forward to getting out there with this roster.”
Wiggins, Mitchell, and Anderson are all expected to make their Heat debuts in Monday’s home game against the reigning NBA champs, Boston Celtics. The game will tip off at 7:30 PM.
