Miami, FL – Following the introductory press conferences of Kyle Anderson, Andrew Wiggins, and Davion Mitchell, the Miami Heat held a three-and-a-half-hour practice session. The Heat then took part in some post-practice interviews that were open to the media. Players and Coach Spoelstra discussed a wide range of topics, from how the first practice went with their new players to what the team morale has been like recently.
Sitting at 25-25 and in 7th place in the Eastern Conference, the Heat players gave the media a glimpse of hope for their upcoming matches in their post-practice interviews. So far, the Heat have played 27 away games, compared to just 22 at home. They’ve had a tougher record on the road. From February 26th to March 27th however, they get to play 14 of their 17 games at home.
Heat practice interviews shine optimism
Kevin Love kicked things off by describing what it’s like joining a new team by saying
“It’s tough. You only know what it’s like trying to get implemented into a team from a couple years back. Coming off of the buyout, so you come to a new city…you have to get used to it. The organization from first-hand [experience] has been really gracious. I’m gracious for them. Just brining me in, being patient.”

When asked about adjusting to having three new players join the squad, Bam Adebayo responded with
“Obviously, we know they can hoop so it’s not hard to acclimate. For us, it’s just letting them understand how the standard is. Obviously, it’s a great opportunity for us…fresh start. And we look forward to having them in the lineup…and look forward to contribute to the win.”
Tyler Herro chipped in as well, saying
“Obviously with Bam and Kel’el out there in the starting unit, having Wiggs implemented. He can guard the ball, he can play off the ball and guard…he helps our defense. And obviously Davion, he’s got ball presence…and even Kyle, he can guard defenders. So just bringing them into the mix of what we’re doing can be real easy to implement them into our defensive system.”

Coach Spo talked about how practice went with their new players, saying
“Yeah, especially at this time of year it’s a great spark. Give our practice a different kind of jolt. We feel like we need that right now, going into this home stretch…32 games. So…like the energy. It felt like a good old Miami Heat practice.”

Regarding what the mood’s been like in the past day or two, Kel’el Ware responded
“I feel like the mood’s always been good, it’s just he’s been around the guys. We’ve always been saying it’s just us. The people that we got here are the people that are going to be around.”
