Former FIU Panthers outfielder Alec Sanchez has signed with the Missoula PaddleHeads of the Pioneer Baseball League, an affiliate league with Major League Baseball.
This past season for the Panthers, Sanchez slashed .332/.411/.601/1.012 with 13 home runs and 35 RBIs. Throughout his time with the Panthers, Sanchez showed the ability to play all three outfield spots effectively.
Sanchez, who currently stands at 5’11”, 203 pounds was named to the all-conference first team and Conference USA All-Academic Team and the CSC Academic All-District Team with a 3.87 GPA.
Sanchez, who wasn’t selected in the 2023 MLB Draft, looks to build up his stock at the Pioneer League where there are about 51 players who currently are in the majors after spending time in the affiliated league.
This past season, the Missoula PaddleHeads went 66-29, but in recent years they were Pioneer champions, so Sanchez is entering a winning environment right away.
