MIAMI, FL – Despite a solid performance from IU Indy on the road, it wasn’t enough to take down FIU as they had to overcome a big deficit to take down the Jaguars by a score of 75-69.

Dashon Gittens and Asim Jones led FIU with 15 points each, proving to be a solid duo that led the way in the second half.

The story of the game was IU Indy’s ability to grow their lead with FIU having to fight back. Ultimately, the Panthers had to erase an 18-point second-half deficit to get the win.

FIU accomplished this by shooting 50 percent from the floor, including 5-of-7 from three-point range. After a three by IU Undy to begin the second half, they scored 14 straight points to make it a contest once again.

With a little over nine minutes to go, Jones tied the game up. With less than four minutes to go, they finally took the lead. Ashton Williamson banked in a shot with 19 seconds left to make it a two-possession game, securing the comeback for the Panthers.

This was a big win, improving FIU’s record to 5-7 with one more nonconference game to go. That’ll be against the Utah Tech Trailblazers at The Bank on Monday, December 30th at noon.
