The Panthers will open the season on a two-game road trip against Rice and then Southern Utah. The last time FIU took on Rice, the Panthers won by a final score of 90-83. They also hold the record against the Owls.

FIU’s matchup against Southern Utah will mark the first in program history. Last season, the Thunderbirds posted a 10-21 record.

Following the two-game road trip, FIU will begin a two-game homestand against Florida National and Howard. The matchup against FNU will be the first between both programs. As for Howard, they made the NCAA Tournament, losing in the first round against #16 Wagner.

In their only matchup against the Bison, FIU lost by a final score of 71-59 in 2022.

The FGCU MTE tournament will be similar to the Cayman Island Classic with the following teams set to participate: Northeastern, FGCU, and Cal State Bakersfield.

The toughest opponent FIU will have to face throughout the entire non-conference slate will be the Florida Atlantic Owls who will now be under the direction of former Baylor assistant John Jakus. The last time FIU took on the Owls, they were blown out by a final score of 94-60.

In the first year of the New College of Florida men’s basketball program, they posted a 7-18 record. This will mark the first matchup between both programs.

The toughest road trip of the season will come against the Stetson Hatters and East Carolina Pirates. Last season, the Hatters defeated FIU by a final score of 80-68, with FIU leading throughout most of the game.

As for ECU, this will be the first matchup since 2014 between both teams. FIU came out on top in that matchup by a final score of 68-64.

FIU will wrap up their non-conference slate at home against IU-Indy who went 6-26 last season. This will mark the first matchup between both programs.

After a tough game against Utah Tech last season, falling by a final score of 96-92, the Panthers will welcome them to the Ocean Bank Convocation Center.
