Things weren’t easy for FIU Women’s Soccer when this game began, but all it took was one-half of work for them to turn the match around and beat MTSU by a score of 4-2.

After the Blue Raiders notched the first goal in the fifth minute, FIU played to keep up and had to fight their way for an equalizer, which they didn’t get in the first half of action.

The magic began in the second half of the action, and it was all thanks to a surge by Noemi Paquin. In the 62nd minute, she landed a longshot in a crowd of Blue Raiders with the ball sailing just over the MTSU goalkeeper for the equalizer.

Noemi then landed a perfect shot off her head on a free kick for Goal #2 eight minutes later, then stole a pass from MTSU and nailed another goal just nine seconds later.

In less than a minute, the Panthers not only extended their lead but added an insurance goal on top of that. It also earned Paquin a hat trick in the process, an amazing game for her.

MTSU did notch one more goal in the 78th minute, but the defense held firm and secured a tough road victory to begin CUSA play.

FIU has now won three straight games and currently stands with a 6-3 record. Their next match is in Lynchburg, Virginia on Friday, September 27th at 6pm against the Liberty Flames.
