Despite coming off a tough loss to Oklahoma and continuing their extensive road trip to begin the season, FIU Women’s Soccer entered Boca Raton and blanked FAU by a score of 2-0, getting back on the right track.
It didn’t take long for action on the scoreboard, as Noemi Paquin capped off a rush to the Owls’ net, kicking right as their goalie went left for a 1-0 lead just 10 minutes in.
FIU’s second goal wouldn’t come until way after halftime with both squads in a stalemate of sorts. In the 87th minute, Montelene Dymond secured an insurance goal to deny FAU a chance of a late comeback with a 2-0 lead.
Despite what the score might tell you, FAU led both teams in shots with nine compared to six, though only one shot for the Owls was actually on goal.
FIU committed eight fouls while FAU wasn’t far off with seven of their own, and a pair of yellow cards were given out – one for each team.
The Panthers are back to an above .500 record, as they’ll continue their road gauntlet on Sunday, August 25th when they head to Jacksonville to take on the Dolphins at 1pm.
