The FIU Women’s Soccer team has released its 2024 schedule, and at first glance, this might be a gauntlet for the Panthers.
FIU had a decent 8-6-4 record last season but fell flat at the end of the regular season and was a first-round exit in the Conference USA Tournament.
Unlike last season, the Panthers will spend the majority of the season on the road – 11 road contests compared to only six games in Miami.
A silver lining is that five road games will be in the state of Florida against non-conference opponents, starting with the season opener in Fort Meyers against the FGCU Eagles on August 15th.
In addition, FIU has road contests against the FAU Owls, (August 22nd) Jacksonville Dolphins, (August 25th) Stetson Hatters, (August 29th), and Miami Hurricanes. (September 1st)
The only other road non-conference game is in Norman against the Oklahoma Sooners on August 18th – an opponent that FIU Women’s Soccer has never played before.
FIU’s home opener won’t take place until September 7th when they host the Southeastern Louisiana Lions. They’ll then host the SEMO Redhawks five days later.
The Panthers’ CUSA schedule consists of every opponent in the conference, including newcomer Kennesaw State on October 20th in Georgia.
Their first CUSA match will be on the road on September 19th against the MTSU Blue Raiders, while the first match at home will take place on October 3rd against the New Mexico State Aggies.
FIU will be able to close out the regular season at home against both the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers on October 27th and the Jacksonville State Gamecocks on October 31st.
The Conference USA Tournament is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, November 6th, and will continue until Sunday, November 10th with FIU being the host city.
