Miami, FL – With the NFL Draft taking center stage amid all other US Sports, all eyes were on Detroit as all 32 teams looked to bulk their rosters with the faces and names of the future. On the home front, the Miami Dolphins had to wait a while until they got to their 21st pick. However, the Dolphins made it count with the selection of Chop Robinson, an edge rusher from Penn State.
The 6’3″, 254-pound junior from Maryland looks to bring athleticism and raw power back to a Dolphins defense that has taken loss after loss this offseason. That being said, stat-wise, his time at Penn State won’t amaze most people, even with a first-team All-Big Ten selection this past season. However, he still put up 17.5 tackles for losses and 9.5 sacks in two years (10 games) of work. Nevertheless, Chop’s potential is there. Head coach Mike McDaniel and general manager Chris Grier had to have taken notice.
While his time in Penn State might not blow you away stat-wise, there's no denying the potential that Chop can provide for Miami. 🐬

In the NFL Combine, Chop Robinson ran a 4.48 in the 40-yard dash. It was the eighth fastest among all edge rushers and defensive ends. In addition, he posted solid times in the shuttle, (4.25 seconds) the vertical jump, (34 feet & 5 inches), and the broad jump. (10 feet & 8 inches)
Aside from the edge rusher position, Miami will also be looking to bolster other areas of their roster that can always use more depth, such as their offensive and defensive lines. Later, they’ll have the picks to do so in the following rounds, as the D0lphins still have:
-One second-round pick (#55)
-One fifth-round pick (#158)
-Two sixth-round picks (#184 & #198)
-One seventh-round pick (#241)
The NFL Draft will continue tomorrow, April 26th, and conclude on Saturday, April 27th.
