Another Matchday is in the books, which means it’s time for our latest Lemon City Live MLS Power Rankings!

These rankings are based on the teams’ overall performance, recent form, impact of key players, and the insights and opinions of our staff here at Lemon City Live. With 25 Matchdays complete, let’s dive into our top 10!

1. LAFC

Prior Ranking: 2

It was only a matter of time until the Black and Gold claimed the top spot in the rankings. With over two months without a loss, it’s clear they’re here to stay. LAFC secured a 2-1 win in El Trafico last week and had some extra rest after their match in Houston was postponed due to weather.

2. Inter Miami CF

Prior Ranking: 1

Reality check time arrived for the Herons. They had surpassed all expectations by winning every game without their two MVPs. The week began well with a 2-1 win in Charlotte, but their momentum came crashing down in Cincinnati. The game was effectively over by halftime with Miami trailing 4-1, culminating in a harsh 6-1 defeat. Despite this setback, we’re not penalizing the Herons too much, only dropping them one spot to number 2 in our rankings. They’ll now have time to recover and regroup before their next match on July 17th at home against Toronto.

3. FC Cincinnati

Prior Ranking: 6

Cincy, last season’s Supporters Shield winners, secured their biggest win of the season and have surged three spots to reclaim the number three position in our rankings. With this victory over Miami, they now sit atop the Supporters Shield standings once again.

4. Real Salt Lake

Prior Ranking: 4

RSL secured two significant wins last week, maintaining a three-way tie with LAFC and the Galaxy at the top of the Western Conference standings. Chicho Arango seems to be back to full strength following his recent head injury. With the competition heating up, it seems the battle for the top seed in the West will be a thrilling one to watch!

5. Columbus Crew

Prior Ranking: 5

Six goals scored and none conceded over two games last week! The defending champs have now won eight of their last nine MLS games, solidifying their position at number five in our rankings. The only setback? A loss to a Miami team missing Messi and Suarez.

6. LA Galaxy

Prior Ranking: 3

The Galaxy suffered a narrow defeat on Independence Day in El Trafico but bounced back with a dramatic last-minute 2-1 win at home against Minnesota. Despite the mixed results, they remain locked in a three-way tie for first place in the Western Conference standings.

7. New York Red Bulls

Prior Ranking: 7

The Red Bulls have been held to four draws in their last five games, a trend that has them sitting in fourth place in the Eastern Conference, just one point ahead of their in-state rivals NYCFC. Despite their recent form, they remain at number seven in our power rankings.

8. Portland Timbers

Prior Ranking: 8

The Timbers had a mixed week, splitting their two games. They suffered a 3-2 loss at Dallas but bounced back with an impressive 4-1 victory at home against Nashville. Remarkably, all four goals against Nashville were scored within a 10-minute window in the first half. Under Phil Neville’s guidance, the Timbers are playing confidently and emerging as the top team among the next tier in the Western Conference, following LAFC, the Galaxy, and RSL.

9. Seattle Sounders

Prior Ranking: unranked

The Sounders have been on a solid run lately, with just one loss in their last ten games. They capped off this week with a 2-0 victory at home over the Revs. As the season approaches its climax, it’s clear that the Western Conference will be the race to watch. Currently, the Sounders are sitting in seventh place in the standings.

10. Colorado Rapids

Prior Ranking: unranked

Two impressive wins last week have propelled the Rapids back into our power rankings. They secured a 2-1 victory against Sporting KC and followed it up with a dominant 4-1 win over St. Louis City, sweeping both matches at home. Colorado has shown flashes of potential before, often doing just enough to break into our top ten but struggling to maintain consistency. A forthcoming matchup against the Red Bulls this weekend presents an opportunity to solidify their position.

We say goodbye …

Charlotte FC and the Houston Dynamo. Charlotte keeps flirting but just can’t seem to keep a proper run of form to stay in the top ten.
